ABOUT GLOBOSAPIENS USED BOOKS

If you can't locate a copy of the book "Childhood's end" that you cherished years ago, Cathy Buttazoni might just be able to find it for you.

Customer testimony:

"Cathy, you did it again! You always manage to have or get books on my "to read" list! I swear, I think you have a giant, secret stash behind the book cases. I always come out of your store with an awesome haul! Thank you!!"

Cathy is "The Boss Lady" of GLOBOsapien's Used Book Store.  She is an avid traveler, collector of key-chains and Arabian Nights books. Her St. James store has an ever changing stock of more than 40,000 used books. Starting from humble beginnings The Boss Lady opened GLOBOsapien's in Charleswood in 2008, gradually building a dedicated readership. In 2010 growth and opportunity led to The Boss Lady relocating the store to our current location on Portage Ave. in St. James. At the end of 2013 in pursuit of all things Norwegian, GLOBOsapien's was regretfully sold to new owners and renamed Bravo Zulu Books. In April 2016 fate was to bring The Boss Lady back home to where the heart is and a chance to reacquire the book store she so loved. With the book store back in her control Cathy reinstated GLOBOsapien's Used Book Store, making it the only used book store in west Winnipeg.

In just under a year, GLOBOsapien's has been reconfigured, creating spaces where you can browse the vast selection of titles and genres, sit and read a chapter or just hang out and relax getting caught up on some of Cathy's favorite reads or travel stories. The environment Cathy fosters is key to her success, first and foremost is customer service, which is evident in her in-depth knowledge of her inventory, maintaining a constant turnover to keep the shelves refreshed with new reads while offering them up at the best possible prices.

Customer testimony:

"Love this store! The owner is very knowledgeable and will find whatever books are              on your list. Best prices in the city! There is always something new to see here."

She strives to be fair to the customers, promote literacy and be kind to the environment by becoming a one stop shop, no book shall go abandoned is the motto.

Customer testimony:

"I absolutely love this book store. I've been to many and this one is quite different. The         prices are amazing the quality of the books are fantastic the service is more than                   phenomenal, it's shocking. I love all the little things this shop provides and the                      dedication involved."

Books can be brought in for trade credit. Any unwanted books are put out for donation to various non-profit organizations, the main two being the Friends of the Public Library and the Siloam Mission. While working with teachers local and rural, to help change out their class room libraries at low cost to them; Cathy also interns students from the Seven Oaks MET School giving their students the chance to gain real life experiences in the work field. Not only do the students learn business, customer service, organizational and research skills but also most importantly, gives them a look into the world of literature.

GLOBOsapien's focuses on the casual, hard to find and specific category customer. It's all about pairing people with the books they need or want, or guiding them to new finds in genres or authors they themselves may not have thought to explore. This is a book store that can keep you reading at home and on the road.
